Ferreria de Tula

La Hacienda "La Ferrería" was founded in 1873 and as it's name says, it was a place of metal fabrication. They made train rails, ornamental iron, fountains and bronze church bells until around 1900. The dam was used to power the machinery.

We stopped in Ferreria de Tula on the way to Tapalpa. Now the town is agricultural and caters to Eco-Tourism with many country cabins.

Jalisco is in west-central Mexico and its capital is Guadalajara. The Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range traverses the state, separating the Pacific coast from a high plateau region. The Sierra Madre region is largely volcanic, and earthquakes are frequent. The state's many lakes include Chapala, Mexico's largest.
